The Webb Dock access improvements will:

  • improve safety on the Bolte Bridge entry ramp, reducing the risk of truck roll-overs and their associated costly delays which can be felt across the freeway network
  • improve traffic flow and safety for motorists and trucks travelling between the West Gate Freeway and the Bolte Bridge
  • provide a quicker and more efficient route for freight that is unaffected by traffic volumes on the M1
  • reduce weaving and merging on the freeway, a major cause of congestion.

What to expect

West Gate Freeway to Bolte Bridge works

During these works, traffic management on the West Gate Freeway to the Bolte Bridge will remain consistent with existing changed traffic conditions including:

  • temporary Bolte Bridge ramp closures
  • temporary lane closures on the West Gate Freeway
  • traffic management signage and personnel, and lowered speed limits on the Bolte Bridge and West Gate Freeway.

Cook Street / Salmon Street interchange upgrade works

There will be some significant changed traffic conditions to the Cook Street/Salmon Street area including:

  • temporary changes to some on-street parking in Cook Street
  • permanent changes to some on-street parking in Cook Street
  • temporary one-way traffic along Cook Street (east to west direction)
  • temporary lane closures including traffic management in the area.
  • Access to local businesses will be maintained at all times throughout these works.

When driving through the work zones, help keep our workers safe by being alert and aware of changed traffic conditions.

Staged construction to minimise disruption

We are committed to minimising construction impacts on motorists and local businesses. Delivery of the works will be staged to plan for, and manage, disruptions as best as possible.
